Katie Mott, Meghan Gillette garner Great IDEA Award for modeling online learning community

The Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance has honored Katie Mott and Meghan Gillette for demonstrating best practices and providing innovative contributions to distance education. The innovators received a Great IDEA Award for building a model virtual online learning community for students that encourages networking and offers guidance on enrollment, graduation, and job prospects in their chosen fields.

Mott is Iowa State University’s campus coordinator of GP-IDEA programs.  Gillette is an associate teaching professor in human development and family studies at Iowa State.

Iowa State University is a founding member of Great Plains IDEA, a consortium of 19 public universities across the United States, which offer a wide range of online degree and certificate programs in human sciences and agriculture.
