Responsibilities

My primary responsibilities during my internship included helping prepare for the Linn county fair and the summer day camps offered. The whole month of June was getting communication events judged, check-in and results binders assembled, mass fair mailing packets sent out, and so much more! Then at the end of the month, it was the county fair, where I helped static judging day and numerous livestock shows and entered results. My focus switched more in July when we had most of our summer day camps, so there was a lot of prep work done before delivering the content at the day camps. Through this, all the offices I was working at moved, so I helped with that, which was a unique experience helping an entire business move.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship experience was being entirely in charge of the educational presentation and extemporaneous speaking judging day, along with sharing the fun! I did all of the preparation work before seeing the event through, where I got to lead it alone! It was such a neat experience that I was so grateful to have and that they let me do it! It was great practice for my future career.

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I learned from my experience are that it is okay to ask for help. With that, it is okay not to know how to do something first. These two lessons go hand in hand. I find it so important, especially when starting my career upon graduation that I will be learning, especially in my first few years. I must be patient with myself as I continue learning and growing throughout my career.
