Responsibilities

During my time as an intern, I am named as a student intern. My responsibilities include working with children with autism under direct supervision, observing treatment plans facilitated by behavior technicians, learning how to program materials, shadowing team members, preparing materials and activities for clients.

Accomplishments

So far during my internship, I am very proud to have made connections with the children and have been able to interact well with my coworkers. I am really learning the children work and their figurations and how they work towards certain things.

Learning experience

One of the greatest lessons I have learned from my internship so far would be how to interact with different children. Working with children with disabilities has been a very different experience that I thought, I honestly thought that it would be much more different than it is. I have loved working work children with disabilities because it has given me a different outlook on my future, and what I want to do.

What advice would you give?

For future students in HDFS, do not be closed off to different opportunities and keeping your options open to different paths. There are very standardized paths that people go down, but there are so many different ways you are able to take this major.
