Emma Kloewer
Responsibilities
My responsibilities included spending time in all areas of the center throughout each week. I spent time in the kitchen, office as well as each of the classrooms. In the kitchen I worked on the food plan and assisted with preparing meals and snacks for the children. In the office I was able to shadow administrators and learn about the behind the scenes of running a childcare center and preschool. During my classroom time I spent time building relationships with all of the children as well as leading small/large group activities.
Accomplishments
My biggest accomplishment during my internship was being able to learn more about all the parts of childcare as well as building personal relationships with the children and coworkers.
Learning experience
Every child is different and once you are able to learn about them as individuals you will be able to be much more successful as a childcare provider.
What advice would you give?
Speak up and advocate for yourself. Your internship experience will be the most beneficial for you if you are vocal and make sure that your thoughts, feelings and opinions are heard. Also, communicate with and build a relationship with your supervisors and coworkers. This will make your experience more enjoyable.
