Responsibilities
I worked primarily with the Education Manager and Specialist to improve some of the systems they had and to create new ones to make tasks flow smoother. I spent time organizing and sorting through classroom material as well as setting up and cleaning up programs. After a couple weeks, I was given the Leadership Task of organizing and implementing Caterpillar Club in which I picked topics, story books, coloring/activity sheets, and a craft for kids under the age of 5 to partake in. I also led tours for youth and adults.
Accomplishments
Sorting through all of the old coloring sheets that had piled up over the years and being able to reuse them and put them in an organized and functional system was very satisfying for me! I also thought being able to lead Caterpillar Club was super beneficial for my future.
What advice would you give?
Be patient and don't get worked up over the little things. Even if you end up having a bad or not so great experience, don't let that get you down. Learn from the things that you don't like about what you are doing as well as the things you do like because that will help the most in the long run. And remember to have fun. Even in the darkest of times, find humor in a joke or something similar because it will help relieve built up tension.
