I was a medical day health and therapy intern. I completed many projects for the occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech therapists in order for them to be able to work best with their clients. I sat in on and was able to participate in many therapy sessions, which I loved! I also did auditing for the medical day health classroom and was able to work in there a bit. I learned food programming for a childcare center and did lots of paperwork and filing for the center. I did a lot of very different things on a day-to-day basis, but that is what made it fun!

I became employed and have been able to work in the medical day health classroom, which focuses on children who have various medical needs that otherwise could not be taken care of in a typical childcare classroom. In addition, I have been able to sit in on various occupational therapy sessions with kiddos and have been able to get hands-on experience that will help me in occupational therapy school!

What advice would you give?

Don't settle for an internship that doesn't directly interest you and fit your needs! You will be spending a lot of time at this location and you want to be doing something you enjoy.
