Kristin Honold
Responsibilities
My job responsibilities include assisting with the hiring process of new employees, assisting with tours of the lab school. I observe staff and students in the lab school as well as engage in the classrooms. I revise handbooks and other forms used by staff. I assist with NAEYC accreditation standards and write grants. Lastly, I participate in administrative meetings.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment thus far is completing two grants. This is a topic that is heavily covered in my major and actually having the experience to write the grant was very rewarding. All the hard work of learning the process of grant writing felt worth it as I was able to use this skill.
What advice would you give?
Accept an internship that you will grow from not because it is comfortable. I chose an administrative internship because it was a new interest of mine after taking HDFS 486 and wanted to learn about this type of position. I love the work I do and I would have never known if I wouldn’t have gone out of my comfort zone. “A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are built for” -John A. Shedd.
