Responsibilities

I rotated through a variety of roles in the center, but I was often responsible for childcare and guidance, doing student evaluations, medication management, and recording information.

Accomplishments

I was able to get through to a specific student who often has behavioral issues. From the outside, it didn't look like much, but to that student and to me it was a big deal. I was very proud of that.

Learning experience

I successfully took on the main role of managing medication and tracking for a diabetic student. I had never given injection medication before, and I felt like it was a great opportunity to learn and develop my skillset.

What advice would you give?

If you are wanting an internship at a specific agency, reach out to them. My agency was small and didn't have an open internship opportunity, but I reached out and was able to complete my internship there. It ended up benefitting everybody and I am so grateful for the opportunity.
